About Moss Lane Farm
A community farm for Chat Moss
Moss Lane Farm is a digital and physical platform that connects people with the land, and over time aims to grow into a landscape-wide effort supporting the future of Chat Moss — the lowland peat mosslands on the edge of Greater Manchester.
The farm is showcased as a community-owned asset, bringing together education, food growing, nature recovery, wellbeing, volunteering and community participation in one place.
What we're building
- Food growing — market-garden beds, orchard and polytunnels run with regenerative, peat-friendly methods.
- Nature recovery — habitat creation, wetland and hedgerows, with biodiversity recorded on every visit.
- Outdoor learning — curriculum-linked sessions and farm visits for schools and families.
- Community ownership — a route for local people to own and shape the farm through membership and community shares.
Our vision
To create a place — and a platform — that brings people together around nature, learning, good food and shared ownership. Land cared for by many hands, for many generations.
